William "Bill" Winkler

November 5, 1933 — December 24, 2020

Bill, 87, of Danville, passed away Christmas Eve at Hendricks Regional Health Hospital. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Sat., January 2, 2021 at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield, with full military honors. The family has asked that masks be worn, and social distancing observed.

Bill was born in Charleston, West Virginia to the late William D. and Reba (White) Winkler. He married Mable Underwood Oct. 26, 1956. Bill owned and operated the Amoco Gas Station in Plainfield for 3 years prior to taking over the Amoco franchise in Danville from 1972 until 1985. He concurrently owned and operated the Danville Napa Auto Supply Store from 1981 until he retired in 1990. Bill was active in his community. He was a member of the Danville American Legion Post #118, and the Plainfield F.O.E. Lodge #3207. Bill loved his country, he was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Marine Corp.; "Siemper Fi".

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mable, children, Kelly (Carol) Winkler, Terina (Jerry) Malicoat, Gale (Jeff) Stone, all of Danville, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
