Wayne Earl Hensley

May 3, 1927 — September 11, 2020

Wayne, 93, of Clayton, passed away early Friday morning at Garden Villa in Bloomington, Indiana. Private graveside services will be held in Clayton Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Sharron Mae (Mitchell) Hensley.

Wayne was born in Indianapolis to the late Wylie P. and Ida Mae (Peyton) Hensley. He attended Franklin High School. As WWII had been "thrust" upon America since 1941, Wayne wanted to serve his country although he was only 16 years of age. He "fibbed" about his age, and enlisted in United States Navy in 1943, serving his country throughout the war. Wayne worked in the Kroger Grocery Store warehouse in Indianapolis for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was a former member of the Franklin Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his sons, Robert "Bob" Hensley of Clayton, Scott (Marcy) Hensley of Bloomington, grandson, Bobby (Shelley) Hensley of Danville, great grandchildren, Gracelynn Rae and Charlotte Lou Hensley, and a brother, Donald Hensley of Pensacola, FL.

WEAVER & RANDOLPH FUNERAL HOME CLAYTON entrusted with the arrangements.
