Sue Summers

D. Sue Summers, 88, of Danville, Ind. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Majestic Care of Avon.  She was born October 15, 1935, in Gibson County, Ind., daughter of the late Joseph and Nova Pearl (Wiggins) Wallace.

Sue was a graduate of Fort Branch High School with the class of 1953.  In 1954 she married the late Fred Sisk of Cynthiana, Indiana and started a family with the birth of her only son, Douglas Sisk.  In 1976 she married James Summers and together they blended their families and shared 40 years until his passing in November of 2016.

Sue worked for Danville School Systems.  She was head cook when North Elementary opened in 1964, then moving to the High School in 1973 where she was head custodian until her retirement.

Sue was a member of the Danville Christian Church. She was a true believer in Christ and lived her faith, hardworking and generous, caring for her friends and neighbors when in need, helping them with their cooking and cleaning. Her gift of sustenance and delicious recipes will be cherished for years to come.

Survivors include her children, Douglas (Wendy) Sisk-Danville, Deborah (Brian) Treadway-Colorado, Douglas (Kathleen) Summers-California, Jerretta (Chuck) Gilman-Florida, Jennifer Richard-Danville, Lora (Jeff) Lockwood-Iowa, Angela (Kevin) Norman - Ohio, Jeffrey (Karen) Summers - Danville, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren…She was preceded in death by her Parents and 7 brothers and sisters.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:00 am, at the Danville Christian Church.

Contributions may be given to the Danville Christian Church in memory of Sue.  HELTON & HARRIS FUNERAL HOMES entrusted with the arrangements.
