Shirley Ruberson

Shirley J. (Scrivner) Ruberson, 86 of Avon, IndIana passed away on March 7, 2025. She was born into the family of Robert and Oleta (Nichols) Scrivner family, Paris, Arkansas. Shirley and her family moved to Pueblo, Colorado, 1942 where she grew up and graduated Central High School, 1956. She met her future husband where both of them attended church. They were married in February, 1960.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Bryan Ruberson, son Keith (Jill), Ruberson, Plainfield, IN, and daughter Kimberley (Nathan) Dolberg, Clayton, IN., son Robert (Kelly) Gaudet, Plainfield, IN,  and a brother, Robert F. Scrivner, Tuscon, AZ. Nine grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren also survive. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, daughter, Kelly Gaudet and brother Charles Scrivner.

Shirley was employed as a secretary for an Insurance Adjusting agency until resigning to raise her family. She later established a very successful arts and crafts store, Crafts & Things which she operated for 15 years. She later moved to Loveand, Colorado, with her husband and family. She was employed in production for a technology company. She retired in 1999 and later moved to Avon, IN to be closer to family. Family was first and foremost to Shirley next after God. She was devoted to her faith.

We, the family, would like to thank in gratitude the IU Health Hospice team that helped with Shirley in her journey with Dementia, with special mention of nurse Laura Simmons, Melissa Ridenour, and Karen Morris. We could not ask for better. Special mention for the team at Brownsburg Health Care Center, also.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 2 p.m., at Harmony Baptist Church, 5693 Broyles Road, Avon, IN 46123.
