Funeral services for ROBERTA J. HOUSEFIELD, 99, of Danville, will be held at 1:00 pm Sat., Nov. 24, 2018 at Northview Christian Church in Danville with visitation there from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place in Wesley Chapel Cemetery near Reelsville, In. in Clay County, In.

Roberta was born in Clay County, the daughter of the late Peter and Flora (Calthorp) Howald. She graduated from Brazil High School in 1937. Roberta later graduated from Indiana State University in 1941 with a BS degree in English. Roberta married Carl M. Housefield on June 27, 1943, he preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 2000. She taught Jr. High School English at Holland, In., and at Rushville, In. prior to her career teaching and educating at the Plainfield Junior High School for 28 years, retiring in 1981. Roberta was a member of the Northview Christian Church in Danville, the ISTA, (Indiana State Teachers Association), Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority, Pamarista Honor Sorority, Motor Board of Indianapolis, Hendricks County Retired Teachers, the Plainfield Reitired Educators, and the Browning Club of Danville. Roberta and her late husband Carl, along with their son, John, owned the former "Walden Gallery" Gift Shop in Plainfield.

Survivors include her son, John (Connie) Housefield of Danville, grandchildren, Lindsay (R.J.) Tatge of Danville, Christopher Housefield of Yorkville, IL., 4 great grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law, Karen Bower of Carmel. Roberta was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Housefield, 2 sisters, and a brother.
