Robert G. Sutton

Robert G. (Bob) Sutton, 86, of Apollo Beach, FL, formerly of Danville, passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2022. A visitation will be held at WEAVER & RANDOLPH FUNERAL HOME, DANVILLE, on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 from 6-8pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 21 st at 11:00 am. Burial of cremated remains will take place in the Bee Ridge Cemetery, Brazil, IN at 2:00 pm, also on September 21 st . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation at michaeljfox.org.

Bob was born on July 22, 1936 in Brazil, IN, son of the late Libert Grant and Mable Pauline (Hodge) Sutton. He graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1954 and attended Rose Polytechnic Institute, earning his BS in Electrical Engineering in 1958. After serving in the US Army for two years, Bob worked as a Transmission Engineer for 30 years with Public Service, Indiana (now Duke Energy). He was a member of the Danville Jaycees and devoted many hours to the Danville Volunteer Fire Department from 1969 until his retirement, as Assistant Fire Chief, in 1990. Bob participated in a number of mission trips to build churches in the US and Mexico as a member of Danville United Methodist Church and Big Bend United Methodist Church. After moving to Florida, he joined the Apollo Beach Power Squadron working with safety training for the boating community. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and spending time on the water and in the woods.

Survivors include his son, Bill (Brenda) Sutton, daughter, Linda (Ron) Moll, stepdaughters Tammy (Rob) Cassity-Roberts and Teresa (Scott) Hickner, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Sutton (1997), and sisters, Betty (2014) and Nola Belle (2007).
