Richard Louk, Sr., 93, of Worthington, OH, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024. He was born in Valley Head, West Virginia on May 18, 1931, son of the late George and Delcia (Baughman) Louk. In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Barbara Louk, twin sons, Jeff and Rob Louk, and 7 siblings, Nancy Barr, Russell, Chuck, Virgil, Donald, Gary and Bryant Louk.

Richard grew up in Wheeling, WV, his father a farmer and his mother a housewife. He joined the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division and served from 1951-1954. He and Barbara married and started their family in Columbus, Ohio, where Richard worked as a lineman with Columbus Light and Power. Over the years he made many great friends who were simply considered family, including all his brother’s and sister’s-in-law, and his son-in-law. Richard enjoyed getting away and sitting around the campfire at the family cabin in Valley Head, believed to be built on the original homestead. He was a great storyteller, whether telling ghost stories or bedtime stories. Kellie remembers her dad telling her the most detailed bedtime stories, and as she drifted off to sleep, those stories turned into her dreams. He was a master at beginning a doodle that morphed into an incredible piece of artwork. Kellie and her friends used to stand behind him while he drew, she remembered the time they marveled as it turned into a detailed rendering of a gorilla. He made so many wonderful memories with his family, to him, family was everything.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Kellie Louk of Columbus, OH, and his son, Rick Louk of Worthington, OH; grandchildren; Nicholas Tipton, Jessica, Luke and Tyler Louk; nephew, Jason Louk of Coatesville, IN; brother, Robert Louk, also missing Richard are several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
