Eric “Rico” Edelson, 55, of Danville, returned to spirit on September 25, 2024. He was born on April 13, 1969, in Heidelburg, Germany. He was raised in San Diego, CA and in 1990 moved to Indiana. Rico played a major role in the Indy music scene, whether he was on stage, in the crowd or recording bands. He formed a family on the road with the Indy Racing Circuit, where he spent many cherished years before retiring from the road and joining his in-laws, Dave and Joyce Hadley, at Hadley Insurance, as an agent and later becoming part owner. He was a loving husband, father, and friend. In his short time here, he lived many lives that touched the heart of every person he encountered. Rico cared so deeply for his family and friends which stretched into many different communities. He had a way with all walks of life, always inclusive, never judgmental, and always had an amazing story to share. Rico had a strong bond with his son Brent Edelson and 30 beautiful years with his loving wife Schanda Edelson.
Rico is survived by his wife, Schanda (Hadley) Edelson; son, Brent Edelson; his beautiful mother and stepfather, Janice (Crawford) and Bill Lowrie; father and stepmother, Paul and Grace Edelson; sister and brother-in-law, Harmonie (Edelson) and Drew Jacobson; niece, June Jacobson; brother-in-law, Mitch Hadley; brother-in-law, Jason Leisch; nieces, Courtney Leisch, Jennifer (Leisch) and husband Kerry Johnson and their children, Brooks and Lindy Johnson; father-in-law, David Hadley. Rico is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Joyce Hadley. Also missing Rico are extended family members in Indiana and Tennessee.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled towards the beginning of May 2025, and near Labor Day 2025, to celebrate Anita Fest with Rico’s musical family. Online condolences and pictures may be offered at www.heltonandharrisfuneralhomes.com.
