March 18, 1941 — April 16, 2023

Paul Barnett, Sr., 82, of Bainbridge, IN passed away on April 16, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was

born at home on March 18, 1941, in Plainfield, IN, and was the son of Julius P. and Beatrice (McMullin)

Barnett. Paul grew up in Plainfield and was a 1959 graduate of Plainfield High School,

later receiving his MBA from Indiana University, Bloomington.  Paul and his late wife, Nancy (Jones) Barnett

were married on March 22, 1959, in the Nazarene Church in Plainfield, IN.

He successfully completed The Indiana Executive Program at Indiana University in Managing Business

Functions while working full time for Link-Belt Bearing.

Paul retired from Link-Belt Bearing as the Director of Manufacturing after 40 years.

His service and dedication to others are reflected in his past participation and leadership in several organizations as a

member of the Bainbridge Lions Club, Bainbridge Cemetery Association, Danville Town Council, Danville

Police and Fire Commissioner, President of West Point Parents Club of Indiana, Hendricks County

Reserve Deputy, and Captain of the Decatur Township Fire and Rescue. He coached Danville little

league football and basketball. He was a past president and a coach for the New Winchester Baseball

Little League. He was currently a member of the Bainbridge Methodist Church, Bridgeport Masonic

Lodge, and Scottish Rite of Indianapolis.  Paul is survived by his children and their spouses,

Peggy (Fred) Dudley of Bloomington, IN, Paul (Linda)

Barnett of Waynesboro, PA, and Tom (Carol) Barnett of Milan, MI; grandchildren, Marcus (Elizabeth),

grandchildren, Olive, Jillian, Bronson, Cassius, Lucy, and Arbor; sister, Betty Jean Moran of Indianapolis,

IN, sister-in-law Judy Barnett of Plainfield, IN, along with many nieces and nephews. He is also survived

by his dogs, Max and Peachey, and cat, Lucky. In addition to his parents and his wife, Paul is preceded in

death by his brother Jack Barnett and niece Renata Hayes.

Paul loved taking drives in the country, drinking a McDonald’s coffee, sharing stories of his youth and his

family’s history in Plainfield. Upon retirement, Paul and Nancy moved to Bainbridge and lived their

dream of being in the country, making new friends, and hobby farming. He enjoyed spending time with

his various pets and farm animals, often having names for the various farm animals. He loved to tell a

corny joke, over and over and over! He enjoyed fishing and hunting as long as it involved a nap in the

woods. He always enjoyed a good crime drama like “Walker, Texas Ranger” or “Adam-12”, a western

movie, and every John Wayne movie.  In lieu of flowers, please donate generously to
