Funeral services for Melvin will be held at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020 at the CLAYTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH with visitation there from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Clayton Cemetery with military honors were he will be laid to rest next to his wife of 70 years, "Geraldine".
Melvin was born in Hagerstown, Indiana to the late Howard and Laura (Hoover) Breneman. He graduated from New Lisbon High School with the class of 1942, and attended Butler University for a year. Melvin married Wilma "Geraldine" Macy July 9, 1944 in the Hopewell Friends Church at Staughn, Indiana. Geraldine preceded him in death May 5, 2014. Melvin had been a sales representative for McLean Trucking for 20 years, retiring in 1984. He also was a partnership owner/operator of the Blazer Restaurant from 1978 until 2000. Melvin had also been a sales representative for Eastern Airlines, and had worked at Overhead Doors. He was a member of the Clayton Presbyterian Church, and had served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Survivors include his two daughters, Carol (David) Sarber of Marion, IN., Cathy (Steve) Sorrells of Donna, TX., four grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Martha Breneman of Clayton. Melvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Roy Breneman.
Contributions may be given to the Clayton Presbyterian Church in memory of Melvin.
