Helen Murrain, 87, of Danville passed away, surrounded by her family on November 13, 2024. She was born in Indianapolis on September 4, 1937, daughter of the late James Raymond and Lillian (McCloud) Stevenson. In addition to her parents, Helen is predeceased by her brother, Norman Stevenson.
Helen grew up in Danville, Indiana and was a 1955 graduate from New Winchester School. Later, a mutual friend introduced her to the man whom she’d marry and make beautiful memories with for the next 62 years, Robert E. Murrain. Together they had 3 beautiful children. She had worked in insurance before staying home to raise their family. She loved being a mother and grandmother. Memories were made with grandchildren, watching game shows like Wheel of Fortune, playing UNO and board games like Mousetrap and CLUE, working jigsaw puzzles, sitting and watching the grandkids playing outside and lots of cuddles. In her quiet time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, planting flowers and pulling weeds, she loved her home in the country.
Helen is survived by her loving husband, Bob Murrain, sons, John (Jennifer) Murrain, Jeff (Daina) Murrain, and daughter, Kelly Horner, all of Danville; 4 grandchildren, Mickey (Garrett) Brown, Cody (Alexus) Murrain, Blake (Atlanta) Murrain, and Kaleigh (Alex) Stevens; 4 great-grandchildren, Xander, Tobias, Allison and Isabella; sister-in-law, Joan Stevenson, nieces, and Helen’s precious schnauzer, Emmy.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024 at Helton & Harris Funeral Home, 4712 Pennsylvania St., CLAYTON, Indiana 46118. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, burial will follow in Clayton Cemetery.
