March 10, 1965 — August 2, 2024

Danville

Lynn Louise Forrester, 59, of Danville, passed away at Life’s Journey Hospice of Avon on Friday, August 2, 2024 after a tough battle with ALS. She was born in Excelsior Springs, Missouri on March 10,1965, daughter of the late James and Helen (nee Watkins) Cox. In addition to her parents, Lynn is preceded in death by her sister, Gail Lindsey, and brother, Tony Cox.

Lynn graduated from Richmond High School with the class of 1983. After high school she spent time figuring out her next move, and ultimately felt she was being called to join the US Air Force- which was the career path where she found her purpose and served an impressive 20 year career in logistics. Lynn's career field became crucial after 9/11, and her role was integral in the war planning that occurred in the years following the terrorist attack . Lynn retired after 20 years and continued to serve as Civil Servant for the Air Force for an additional 19 years. While working full-time and raising her daughters, she also continued her studies at University of Maryland and Air War College, receiving two Master’s Degrees in Strategic Studies and Military Operational Art and Science. She was truly a badass!

In her free time, Lynn enjoyed gardening, shopping, reading, and spending time with her friends and family. She was a self proclaimed foodie and loved to travel and try new dishes. Her favorite place to visit will always be Germany.

Lynn was a loving mother to her two daughters, Lauren (Jeff) Gilmer of Danville, and Kristen Arias of New York City; she was a loving Mimi to her two grandchildren, Leah and Nicholas Gilmer; and sister to Jean (Ronnie) Zullig of Frazeyburg, Ohio, Jan Cox of Shell Knob, MO, and Terri Fallin of Omaha, NE. Always in her heart were her precious toy Schnauzers, Sadie and Finley.

In accordance with Lynn’s wishes, she will be cremated, and her ashes scattered in a special place chosen by her daughters. Please consider donating in Lynn’s name to the ALS Association.
