Letha M. Short Hiland

93, of Elkhart passed April 02, 2018 at Hubbard Hill Health Care in Elkhart. Services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at NORTHVIEW CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 623 North State Road 39, Danville, Indiana, with visitation there from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow the service at Coatesville Cemetery, Coatesville, Indiana.

Letha was born to Kenneth and Edith Wolverton Short, March 24, 1925 in Brazil, Indiana. She graduated from Brazil High School and later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. She meet and married Marvin D, Hiland on August 31, 1946. They lived in Indianapolis and raised 3 children. In later years they moved to Coatesville, Indiana where her husband purcharsed an 80 acre farm, what a great adventure for all of them. Letha decided to further her education and in 1966 received a Degree in Nursing from Indiana Central College. Afterwards she took a job as a nurse at Hendricks County Hospital. During her time there she help in many ways one of which was to establish an I.V. Therapy Group Program. She continued working for the hospital unit retiring in 1984. After living on the farm for 53 plus years they decided to move to The Hearth of Prestwick. After Marvin's passing in 2011 Letha decided to move to Elkhart and live with her daughter. She was a life long member of the Northview Christian Church in Danville.

Survivors include her daughter, Debra (Tom) Davisson-Mishawaka, IN., son, Jerry (Judy) Hiland-Zypherhills, FL., son, Jeffery (Peggy) Hiland-Bloomfield, IN., seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She is preceded by a grand-daughter Aubra Hiland.
