Leanna Kay Sherman

Leanna, 75, of Danville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Hendricks Regional Hospital.  Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Wed. July 6, 2022 at BARTLETT CHAPEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH located at 4369 E. Main St. Avon, with the funeral service at 3:00 pm on Thursday, July 7, 2022, also at the church. Burial will take place on Friday, July 8, 2022 in the Abilene Cemetery District 1, Abilene, KS.  Donations may be made, in Leanna's name, to the United Women in Faith at 475 Riverside Drive, suite 1500, New York, NY 10115 or [email protected] .  Those wishing to send flowers, please send them to the church.

Leanna was born in Abilene, Kansas to the late Eldon and Roberta (Long) Book.  She graduated from Western Christian High School in Upland, California with the class of 1965, and later received her nursing degree from Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamongo, California.  Leanna worked as a Registered Nurse in the Neo-natal Intensive Care unit for 30 years, serving hospitals in Glendale, CA, Abilene and Salina, KS, as well as in San Ramon, CA. She retired in 1993.  Leanna was a devout Christian. She enjoyed serving her Lord and community as a very active member of the Bartlett Chapel U.M. Church.  Leanna was a very artistic person and multi-talented, as a painter (water colors) a quilter, and China painter, having served as the former President of the Indiana China Painting Association.

Survivors include her loving husband of almost 54 years, Warren J. Sherman of Danville; 3 children, LaVonne (Steven) Mickelson of Avon, Loretta (Daniel) Hahn of Mt. View, CA, W. Jeremy (Lauren) Sherman of Alma, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren, Matthew and Ethan Mickelson, Abigail Hahn, W. Jackson, Oliver and Lilah Sherman; 3 sisters, Shirley (Earl) Lambes of Ft. Worth, TX., Suzanne Zdepski of Hernando, FL, Pamala (Tim) Bathurst of Abilene, KS, and brother, Stanley (Judy) Book of Prescott, AZ.
