Laurabel Pruitt

Funeral services for Laurabel Pruitt, 100, of Avon, will be held at 2:00 pm Sat., Nov. 17, 2018 at WEAVER & RANDOLPH FUNERAL HOME DANVILLE with visitation from 12 Noon until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Danville South Cemetery.

Laurabel was born on a farm south of New Winchester to the late Verne L. and Ethel (Roudebush) Wolfe. She graduated from Pittsboro High School with the class of 1935 as valedictorian. She later attended Central Normal College on a scholarship. Laurabel worked in the receiving office at Allison in Speedway during WWII where she met her late husband of 51 years, Clarence Pruitt. They were married Jan. 4, 1944. After living in Indianapolis for 6 years, they bought a house in what was formerly called "Hardscabble" across from the current Bartlett Chapel United Methodist Church, where she became an active member of the church and their Ladies' Circle. Laurabel was a dedicated wife and mother, growing, canning, and freezing each year's supply of fruit and vegetables. She was especially noted for her pies and cookies, enjoyed sewing for her home and family and cooking three meals from scratch every day.

Survivors include her children, Carol (Alex Knight) Pruitt of Edinburgh, IN., James (Cheri) Pruitt of Indianapolis, Robert (Leah) Pruitt of Avon, grandchildren, Jennifer(Wesley) Snider and their children, Cooper and Claire of Indianapolis, Kristin (Allen) Bunch and their children, Daleigh, Noelle, and Shiloh of Indianapolis and Dubai, and a brother, Donald (Mary) Wolfe of Lebanon, IN. Also surviving are 13 nieces and nephews. Laurabel was preceded in death by her brothers Ledner and Robert Wolfe, a sister, Catherine Coleman, and 2 nieces and 3 nephews.
