Larry William Elliott

Larry William Elliott, 82, of Danville, IN, passed away in the early morning on Friday, August 18, 2023, surrounded by his family.  He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on July 14, 1941, and was the son of the late John William and Edna Cleo (Ferguson) Elliott.

Larry grew up in Indianapolis, graduating from Ben Davis High School with the class of 1959.  He married a fellow classmate and his best friend, Rhoda Lee (McDaniel) Elliott.  They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on July 1st.  He retired from Allison Transmission after 30 years of dedicated service.  Larry had a love of sports his whole life, including playing on the varsity high school basketball team and track, to coaching his children’s youth sports teams and cheering on his favorite NFL Chicago Bears.  He was also instrumental in the formation of the Danville Girls Junior Softball League.  He loved all animals, especially goats, and supported his children and grandchildren in the various Hendricks County 4-H Livestock and small animal programs. Larry was an avid hunter, and particularly enjoyed hunting with his beagle dogs. He also enjoyed woodworking.  Larry was a longtime member of Bartlett Chapel Global Methodist Church.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and had dear friends who will miss him.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Rhoda Elliott; 3 children, Dana Elliott of Danville, Eric Elliott of Coatesville, and Kent (Amy Comer) Elliott, also of Danville; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his daughter- in-law, Carla (Casteel) Elliott.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 1:30 P.M. until the time of the memorial service at 3:30 P.M. at the Bartlett Chapel Global Methodist Church, 4396 E. Main St., Danville, IN 46122.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s name to the church at the above address or the American Liver Foundation for NASH, to raise awareness of and treatment for non-alcoholic cirrhosis, at www.liverfoundation.org.
