Karen Groff

Karen Jane Groff, 81 of Danville, passed away Monday, December 30, 2024, at Life’s Journey Hospice in Avon, her family was by her side. She was born March 11, 1943, the daughter of the late, Robert G. and Elsie (Ellington) Decker. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Decker, Jr. and her sister, Diana Miller. 

Karen graduated from Danville High School in 1961 where she enjoyed art and music. After high school she moved to Florida where she modeled for a short time with a department store. She was a member of the Friendly Church of the Nazarene where she loved to sing in the choir. Karen loved to travel, in person, or vicariously through her daughter Lisa via FaceTime. She will be missed and remembered for being so helpful and always there for everyone, she would have given the shirt off her back to help someone.

Karen is survived by her 3 daughters, Stephanie Knight of Marion, IL, Lisa Knight of Carbondale, IL and Antoinette (Lucian) Adamson of Frankfort, IN; grandchildren, Amanda (Jonathan) Kibler, Whittney Simmons, Michael Goings, Desire Brooks and Brandon Miller; great grandchildren, Lydia, Jude, Jayda, Jaxson, Jenesis, Alesia, Alessa, Emerson and Everlee; sister, Judy K. Decker and brother, James “Jim” (Jane) Decker also of Danville. Also missing Karen are several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends at Helton & Harris Funeral Home, Danville, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 11 am – 1 pm with a service beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Danville South Cemetery.
