Judith Eileen (Myers) Porter

December 23, 1939 — March 11, 2022

Judy, 82, of Mooresville, formerly of Danville, passed away peacefully at home early last Friday morning with her loving family by her side following an extended illness. Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Wed., March 16, 2022 in Danville South Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Bernard R. Porter, Sr. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Judy was born in Martinsville and graduated from Martinsville High School with the class of 1957. She was the daughter of the late Robert Pryor and Norma (Holloway) Myers Pryor Knoy. Judy married Bernard R. Porter, Sr. July 24, 1959, he preceded her in death Oct. 18, 1982.

Much more than a wonderful homemaker, she was involved in her children's lives, being a Cub Scout Den Mother, attending their activities both local and out of state, yet Judy found time to give of herself to her community. She was a lifetime member of the former Ladies Auxillary  of the New Winchester VFW and was in charge of the operation for the Danville Little League Baseball concession stand. Judy was a talented, creative person, who was open to expanding her knowledge in many areas. A former softball player and bowler, Judy enjoyed her 19 years of bowling on the Happy Handicappers Bowling League at the Country Lanes in Danville where she was very proud of her 600+ series. She was an avid reader, genealogist, and a student of astrology and numerology. Judy was also a self-taught seamstress, making clothes for her children and grandchildren as well as the wedding dress for her daughter, Patty. "Knowing Judy, was to love her".

Survivors include her children, Melody (David) Baxter of Greenfield, Bernard R. "Bernie" (Shannon) Porter, Jr. , Patricia "Patty" (Jimmy) Spears, all of Danville, 5 grandchildren, grand-puppy, "Sloopy", 9 great grandchildren, brothers, Charles Myers of Martinsville, Robert Pryor of Danville, Tom Myers of Greenwood, and several nieces and nephews. Judy was also preceded in death by her brothers, Michael Myers, Danny and Ronald Pryor.

The family wishes to extend a special "thank you" to Paradigm Health for their efforts allowing Judy to remain at home in comfort.

WEAVER & RANDOLPH FUNERAL HOME DANVILLE is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
