Joe David Miller, age 73, of Danville, Indiana, passed away on May 3, 2024. He was born in
Indianapolis, Indiana, on March 11, 1951. Joe lived a full life marked by his commitment to
laying block foundations at work every day and building a solid foundation for his family to stand on. He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Joan Copple Miller, and his daughters Crystal Stites Mitchell (Jason Smith), Courtney Miller Williams (Nate), and Carrie Jo Miller- Brown (JayTee.) Grandchildren Ella Williams, Brock Williams, and Cianni Mitchell. Joe was brother to Nancy Jo Dubbs (Derrick, Darren) Gordon Miller (Nancy, Josh, Sara), and Kimberly Miller Irvin (Gary.) Brother in law to John S. Copple and family, Linda & Pete Aabram. Niece Michelle (Kyle) Fleming and family, Nephew Paul (Julie)Potter and family. He was preceded in death by John A. “Shorty” Miller and Mary Margaret “Margie” (Gordon) Miller. His family extended well
beyond the immediate to include his Miller and Gordon cousins, the Miller Masonry Crew (Carla, Pablo, Zefe, Martine & Oscar), and many cherished friends who were also considered part of this Clan.
Joe was a graduate of North Central High School Class of 69 and also attended Vincennes University. He attended New Winchester Christian Church while the girls were growing up and recently attended services at Northview Christian Church.
Joe worked his entire life at Miller Masonry. His father established Miller Masonry in 1959. Joe incorporated and took over in 1989. His youngest daughter, Carrie now owns and operates the company as a third-generation owner-operator.
Throughout his life, Joe has enjoyed many activities, such as playing softball, boating on
Raccoon Lake, golfing with his brother and son-in-law, coaching at New Winchester Park, and participating in the Hendricks County 4-H Beef Program. Joe truly enjoyed his children, grandchildren and their friends.
The family wishes to acknowledge and show appreciation for the Hendricks Regional Health ER, ICU, and Medical Unit nurses and staff that provided excellent care for Joe and his family. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 15, 2024 from 12-6, at JayTee and Carrie Miller-Brown’s residence. A brief eulogy will be held at 3pm. To honor Joe’s memory, the family suggests that charitable donations be made to the Friendsof Danville FFA or the Hendricks County 4-H Beef Club.
