A funeral mass for Joanna will be held at 10:00 am WEDNESDAY, January 15, 2020 at MARY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH in Danville, where she had been an active member. The family has asked that contributions be given to the church's building fund in memory of Joanna. Burial will follow in the Danville South Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband of 58 years, "Tony". Visitation will take place at WEAVER & RANDOLPH FUNERAL HOME DANVILLE 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm TUESDAY, January 14, 2020. A recitation of the Rosary will be given at 4:00 pm.
Joanna was born in Indianapolis to the late Walter and Mary Ellen (McDonald) Krebs. She graduated in 1948 from St. Marys Academy in Indianapolis. Joanna married Anthony J. Konechnik Nov. 11, 1950, he preceded her in death Mar. 12, 2008. She had been a homemaker, a secretary at Goldsmith Pipe & Supply in Indianapolis for several years, and a wonderful and cheerful cashier at the former Johnston IGA Store in Danville for 25 years, retiring in 1996.
Survivors include her children, Anthony "Tony" Konechnik and wife, Sandra Jean, Tom Konechnik, all of Indianapolis, Susan (Steve) Kersey of Danville, grandchildren, Matt (Hilary) Owen, Nicole (Mitch) Irving, Bethany (Andrew) Arkills, Anthony and Steven Konechnik, 6 great grandchildren, a brother, Roderick (Alison) Krebs of TN., and a sister-in-law, Margaret Ford of Indianapolis.
