Jimmie "Heavy Duty" Clark

Jimmie “Heavy Duty” Ray Clark, 80, of Danville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 12, 2023.
He was born December 29, 1942, in Scottsville, Kentucky, to the late George H. and Erma (Tucker) Clark.
In addition to his parents, Jimmie was predeceased by his best-friend and wife of 60 years, Joyce A.
Clark, who passed away, April 20, 2023. Jimmie had worked for GM and was able to retire after 33 ½
years at the age of 55. He also worked as a mover for Westside Moving Company and as a mechanic
with AAMCO.


Jimmie was a “master gardener” and could tell you anything you ever wanted to know about tomatoes,
corn, and more. He loved to talk and he never met a stranger. He had a love for life and the outdoors.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and always had his fishing poles ready to go. He found strength in
his faith, as he and Joyce had been members of Abundant Life - The House of Mercy church for over 40
years. He will be deeply missed by his two pups he loved so much, Patches and Tooie.


Jimmie is survived by his four children, Donna (Dan) Clark-Parker of Indianapolis, John (Nikki) Mansfield
of Plainfield, Dawn Garrett of Martinsville, and Deana (Steve) Applegate of Gosport. 9 grandchildren;
and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Annis Johnson of Gallatin, TN, Shelia
(David) Wilkerson of Westmoreland, TN, Karen Manion of Bethpage, TN, and his brother, Clois “Jr.”
(Betty) Clark of Westmoreland, TN. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Glendora
Bandy, Mildred Travelstead, his brother, Willard Clark, and son-in-law Sonny Garrett.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, with a service to
follow at 1:00 pm, at the Abundant Life - The House of Mercy, 1003 W. Lincoln St. Danville, IN 46122.
Burial will follow in Clayton Cemetery, 5884 S. County Rd 0, Clayton, IN 46118.
