Funeral services for JEAN will be held at 7:30 PM Thurs,. Feb. 21, 2019 at WEAVER & RANDOLPH FUNERAL HOME DANVILLE with visitation from 6:30 PM until the time of service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM (CST) in the DANVILLE, IL. NATIONAL VETERANS CEMETERY, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Paul, who passed away Jan. 1, 2019. Jean passed away after a courageous battle with Alzheimers disease.
Jean was born and raised in Glassboro, NJ. She was a daughter of the late Elwood and Laura (Thomas) Watson. She graduated from Glassboro High School with the class of 1946. After marring Paul, Oct 1, 1949, she was a stay at home mother, active with her children in boy/girl scouts, PTA, and other booster fund raising activities. Jean went back to work after raising her children, and fulfilled a life time dream of receiving an Associates Degree in Applied Science from Camden Community College in 1986 at the age of 59. She worked in manufacturing for KMS/OMARK Industries and accounting for YMCA. Jean was very active in her church, singing in the choir, teaching children, adult bible studies, and Felllowship House of Camden, NJ., an inner city mission. Jean's hobbies and interests included oil painting, crafts and reading.
Survivors include her children, Greg Shaerer and daughter, Lauren, of McDonnough, GA., Donna (Pastor Ron) McDugle of Plainfileld, grandchildren,Jonathon (Amy) Tripple, of Downers Grove, IL., David (Amy) Tripple of Brownsburg, 7 great grandchildren, Annie, Mark, Maggie, Liam, Silas, Colm, and Declan Tripple. A sister-in-law, Alice Shaerer of Ocala, FL., also survives. Jean was preceded in death by a brother, Everett Watson, and 2 sisters, Ruth Butler and Edith Brown.
Jean's family wishes to thank the dedicated and compassionate caregivers at Cumberland Trace. Contributions may be given to the Alzheimers Association at alz.org.
