Janice "Jan" E. Miethe

Janice “Jan” Elaine Miethe, 71, of Plainfield, IN passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2023 at the Waters of Greencastle.  She was born July 10, 1952, a daughter of the late Hulon and Barbara (Jamison) Simpson. In addition to her parents, Jan is predeceased by her husband, Gerald E. Miethe, her sister, Maye Webb, and brother-in-law, Russ Perkins.

Jan grew up in Martinsville, IN graduating with the class of 1970.  She was working at the VA Hospital as a Candy Striper, when she met the man she would marry, Gerald Miethe.  They celebrated 31 years of marriage before his passing on November 6, 2002.   Despite being told they would not be able to have children, they completed their family when they were blessed with their daughter, Amanda (Miethe) Short.

Jan enjoyed reading books, specifically Harry Potter, working crossword puzzles, sudoku, and regular puzzles, and watching Disney movies.  She especially loved cuddling her grandbabies and great-grandbabies.

Jan will be missed by her loving daughter, Amanda (Tony) Short of Paragon, IN; grandchildren, Michaela (Allen) Richardson, Michael Short, Damian Short and Jerilyn Short; great grandchildren, Lukas Seals and Kingston Richardson; 3 sisters, Sherry (Jimmy) Anderson of Mooresville, Jodi Perkins of Bargersville, and Leisha (Kenny) Buck of Franklin; one brother, Otha (Marsha) Simpson of Indianapolis.  Also missing Jan are many extended family members.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 1:00 pm at the Helton & Harris Funeral Home, 102 S. Indiana St., Danville, IN 46122.
