James L. "Jim" Hughes

Jim, 73, of Danville, passed away unexpectedly at his home this past Wednesday. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, June 2, 2022 at WEAVER & RANDOLPH FUNERAL HOME DANVILLE with visitation from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery at Cartersburg with full military honors.

Jim was born in Indianapolis to the late Lowell Samuel and Zelpha Marie (Larkin) Hughes. He graduated from Danville Community High School with the class of 1968. Upon graduating, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army where he was selected to be a member of the Special Forces (Green Berets), serving his country in the VietNam War. While enjoying farming, Jim was an independent operator truck driver. He was a former member of the Danville Church of Christ.

Survivors include his children, Joe Gibson of Danville, Vickie (Robert) Coudret of Indianapolis, Ann (Todd) Fox of Clayton, Rachel (Paul) Alexander of Ladoga, In., 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sisters, Frances Hughes Boone of Belleville, and Wanda (Richard) Huffman of Plainfield.

Jim was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jaime Gibson, a brother, Jerry Lee Hughes, and a niece.
