Jackie Lynn Owens, 74, of Danville, passed away on Saturday, August 10th, 2024. Jackie was born in Shelbyville, IN to his late parents Clifford Owens and Kathryn (Miller) Owens, and is preceded in death by his daughter Jackie Lynn Owens, his grandson Brandon Carlson, his great grandson Trenton Tandy, and by his brother Larry Owens. Jackie graduated from Shelbyville High School and went on enlist in the army during the outbreak of the Vietnam War. He served for 4 years within the army and was honorably discharged upon completing his service term. After reentering civilian life, Jackie worked for most of his career within manufacturing, creating parts that would be used within automotive assembly.
Jackie loved spending time outdoors, spending a majority of his summer with his wife Sharon at their camping spot at Old Mill Campgrounds. He loved to fish at the surrounding ponds and prioritized spending time in nature. Jackie was also an avid comic book collector and superhero fan, mainly collecting memorabilia from Marvel Comics with a special interest in The Flash.
Jackie is survived by his devoted wife of 22 years Sharon Owens; and by his children and stepchildren Ruth (Chris) Davis of Mesa, AZ, Matthew Owens of Indianapolis, IN, Bill Owens of Shelbyville, IN, Lori (Phil) Carlson of Brookston, IN, Jim (Tanya) Calhoon of Plainfield, and Tammy (Mark) Street of Layfette. Jackie is also survived by his brother Terry (Linda) Owens of Shelbyville, his sister Shelia Owens of Shelbyville; and by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In accordance with Jackie’s wishes, he will be cremated and services will be privately held by the family.
