So much could be said about a woman of her character and age.  Unfortunately, we have limited lines to do so in this page of information.  Her life will be shared by her family with the wonderful capsule of her life in the services that will follow.  Faye was truly an inspiring woman and always looked forward to her next adventure.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and great great great grandmother.  Faye was a fixture in her hometown, serving her community as librarian with the Clayton Library for over 25 years, a cook within the Clayton School System, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Clayton, which she first started attending with her grandmother, traveling by horse and buggy.  She was a past matron of the Eastern Star and past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge.  Faye enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading and making delicious desserts for her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Lula (Elmore) Armstrong and son-in-law, Richard Armstrong of Plainfield, In., grandchildren, Sheryl (Armstrong) Bass, Mike Armstrong, Susie Cole, Jon Alexander, Judy (Alexander) Gibbs, Johnny Elmore, Amy Elmore, Bob Elmore, Kitty Kaufman, Kelly Farris, and Samantha Elmore; 27 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren, 3 great great great grandchildren, and her last surviving kitty and beloved furr-baby, BB. Faye was preceded in death by her son, Sam Elmore, twin daughters, Kaye Alexander and Gaye Brown, sisters, Frances Chambers and Lula “Toots” Prether, and her brother, Burchard Pettitt.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Clayton, 4797 Iowa St. Clayton, In. 46118, or any non-profit that supports Faye’s love of animals.
