Don was born Dec. 3, 1948 in Indianapolis to the late Alfred Perry and Eva Sophie (Hohlt) Robinson. Don grew up in the Smith Valley area of Greenwood, attending the Center Grove Schools, where he participated in all sports, FCA, National Honor Society, and graduating as salutatorian from Center grove High School with the class of 1966. He later attended Purdue University receiving a BS and Masters Degrees in mathematics. At Purdue, he met Diane Alane Franklin, "by the way" the only girl he ever dated. She became the "love of his life". They jointly entered into the Purdue University ROTC program, enduring the the protests that existed during the Vietnam war.( Don and Diane became commissioned officers in the United States Army Reserves.) They were married May 25, 1975. Don tenderly and lovingly took care of Diane from her initial diagnosis of MS in 1987 until her passing Aug. 3, 2014. Don had taught math at Beech Grove High School for a time and been the project manager for Indianapolis Life Insurance Company for 20+ years.
Don was so many things to so many people. There is not enough space here to share all that he was. "A Life Well Lived"... was Don Robinson. "Pops" to his family, "Coach" to all the youth he provided his knowledge of being competitive and understanding sportsmanship, his servitude of knowing how important it was to make sure that the playing surface was cleaned properly during the Indiana Pacer Games, his undying love and support for his family, and all their activities. Don Robinson was a gentleman and friend to all.
Survivors include his children, Scott L. Robinson (fiancee, Melissa) of Memphis, TN., Ryan A. (Krista) Robinson of Brownsburg, Lance D. Robinson (fiancee Jacqueline) of Sugar Grove, IL., grandchildren, Briggs, Kerigan, and Kollyns Robinson, sister, Rita (James) Butts of Avon, and a brother, Gary (Elizabeth) Robinson of Greenwood.
