Christine Ardelean

September 10, 1926 — July 9, 2022

Christine, 95, of Avon, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Hendricks Regional Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until the time of Mass beginning at 10:00 am, at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, located at 1005 West Main St. Danville, IN.  Interment will follow in Saint Malachy West Cemetery, Pittsboro, IN. Those wishing to send flowers may have them send directly to the church.

Christine was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Julius and Yadviga (Antonaitis) Normant.  After graduating from high school, Christine served her country by joining the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Pensacola, FL.  While in the service she met and married Aurel Ardelean on April 26, 1950, to whom she was married for 51 years, he preceded her in death, Sept. 25, 2002.  Following their discharge from the Navy, the couple spent most of their married life learning to farm on a 48-acre property near Groveland, IN.  Christine loved to travel and learn new things.  She was a local professional artist and art teacher for over 50 years and her paintings span a wide variety of styles, media and subjects.  Christine was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danville.  She was a devoted mother and friend.  She encouraged her children to be curious, adventurous, hard-working, caring and independent.

Christine was the beloved mother of Diane (Jim) Fulcher of Camden, SC, David (Christine) Ardelean of Brownsburg, IN, Donetta Pollard of North Salem, IN, and Daniel Ardelean of Mooresville, IN; 12 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be offered to the Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
