Carol Mae Thomas, 81, of Danville, IN passed away in the early hours on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at
Hendricks Regional Hospital, after suffering a stroke, her family was by her side. She was born in
Indianapolis on December 24, 1941, she was the child of the late Robert H. and Lillian (Keeney) Shull.
Carol grew up in Danville, IN and graduated from Danville High School with the class of 1960. When
Carol wasn’t taking care of her family, she was the Head of Microfilm and Digital Film for Hendricks
County. She retired in 2006 after 35 years of service. Carol found friendship with Mickey Thomas. The
two have been by each other’s sides for over 40 years. They made a lot of wonderful memories
together; playing bingo, traveling to the Smoky Mountains, mushroom hunting, and camping; just to
name a few. Carol and Mickey spent many weekends with her granddaughters as they were growing up.
Upon retiring, the two became involved with the Danville Senior Center and made many friends during
their time there. Carol was very crafty and enjoyed wood carving, crocheting and quilting. Carol also
enjoyed listening to and making music, she was known for playing the dulcimer. Carol was a woman of
strong faith and attended Freewill Baptist Church in Mooresville for many years.
Carol is survived by her son, Richard “Rick”(Rhonda) Thomas of Danville, IN; grandchildren, Sarah (John)
Pinson of Kokomo, IN, Brandy Noel (Lance) Tripp of Muscle Shoals, AL, Rebekah (Joshua) Bell of Kokomo,
IN, 1 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mickey Thomas of Danville, IN, daughter-in-law, Connie (Scott)
Bogue of Kokomo, IN, special friend, Everly Summerlot of Danville, IN, also missing her is her pug, Puggy.
In addition to her parents, Carol is preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Shull, and two sons, Robert
Allen Thomas, and Ronald Dale Thomas.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Helton &
Harris Funeral Home, Danville. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Shawn Smalling
presiding. Burial will follow in Zionsville Cemetery, Zionsville, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made in Carol’s name to the Hendrick’s County Humane Society. Online
