Betty L. Horner

January 3, 1928 — May 11, 2020

Betty, 92, of Clayton, passed away at home early Monday morning with her family at her bedside. Although her services will be held at the CLAYTON CHRISTIAN CHURCH Thursday, May 14, 2020, the services will be private due to the COVID-19 VIRUS situation. Burial will follow in the Clayton Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband of 69 years, H. Gene Horner.

Betty was born in Lawrence County, Indiana to the late Fess and Leah (Hoopingarner) Phillips. She graduated from Tunnelton (IN.) High School. Betty married "Gene" Horner June 27, 1948 in Buddha, Indiana. He preceded her in death Oct. 29, 2017. Betty was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She was an active member of the Clayton Christian Church, serving as Sunday School Secretary for many years. Betty loved to bowl with her lady friends, and was an avid embroiderer.

Survivors include her children, Sharon Owen of W. Terre Haute, Mike (Jennifer) Horner of Avon, Terry (Darlene) Horner of Coatesville, Cindy (Leonard) McGlothlin of Avon, Penny (Tom) Branstetter of Clayton, 11 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. Betty was just recently preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jim Owen. Also preceding her in death were her four brothers, Bruce, Roy, Winfred, and Bob Phillips. Contributions may be given to the church in memory of Betty.
