A celebration of the life of BERTHA MARIE BLACK, 97, will be shared by her son, Pastor Gary Black, this Sunday, Oct. 8 with his sermon at the CLAYTON CHRISTIAN CHURCH. A memorial service and the entombment of her cremains will take place later this month at the MEMORIAL GARDENS FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY in Fort Myers, Florida.
"Marie" was born in Clayton, New Jersey, a daughter of Benjamin W. and Mable (Atkinson) Taylor. She was a high school graduate, and attended the Cincinnati Christian University. "Marie" married Donald N. Black Oct. 27, 1940, in Ft. Myers, Fl., he preceded her in death. She was a wonderful homemaker and had been a dental assistant. She had been a faithful member of the First Christian Church of Ft. Myers for many years. Survivors include her two sons, Pastor Byron N. (Juliene Lee) Black of Ft. Myers, Fl., Pastor Gary C. (Julie Ann) Black of Plainfield, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a brother, Benjamin Taylor, of Ft. Myers.
