A day to gather, honor, and share Ben's life will take place on Friday December 27, 2019. Beginning at 12:30 pm at the Danville American Legion Post #118, of which Ben was a past commander and active in the color guard for many years, the colors will be posted and military rites will be given by the post and auxillary. Mr. Jim Wolf, a dear friend, a former commander himself, and a co-worker for many years with Ben will share some heartfelt words. Ben served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Following the military ceremony, a celebration of Ben's life will take place at the Plainfield F.O.E. Lodge #3207, of which he was a member, located at 5556 E. Us Hwy. 40 from 1:30 pm until 5:00 pm.
Ben was born in Pennsylvania to the late Willis and Irene (Seoville) Sayman. He graduated from Loyalsock High School in Estella, PA. with the class of 1952. He married Dorothy Lee Nielsen Nov. 3, 1956. She preceded him in death Sept. 19, 2013. Ben had been an assistant systems engineer for the FAA at Indianapolis International Airport for 30+ years, retiring in 1985. He loved to raise "bird dogs" and hunt. He was a member of the Amo Bird Dog Club.
Survivors include his children, Bruce (Cindy) Sayman, Theresa (David) Collins, daughter-in-law, Pam Sayman, all of Indianapolis, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a brother, Robert Sayman of New York. Ben was preceded in death by a son, David. The family has requested that contributions be given to the Salvation Army, Wheeler Mission, and/or one's favorite charity in memory of Ben.
At Ben's request, following cremation, his cremains will be given to his family.
